Children's Activities

Children are more than welcome at any of our services. There is a children’s area at the side of the church with books, toys and colourings to play with. Please do not worry if your child needs a snack, drink or to play during the service.

Services that are particularly suitable for children are detailed below.

Bears & Prayers, Toddler service

We have a toddler service every Wednesday (during school terms) with at 08:45 tea, coffee, squash and biscuits with colourings available for the children while the “grown ups” have a good old natter this is followed by a short service at 09:30. Revd Ginni leads the service and we listen to a Bible story, say some prayers and sing a song. The service is suitable for all parents/carers with babies or children under 5. Please come along if you are interested, or contact Revd Ginni.

St Ippolyts Sunday school

We meet in Church on the third Sunday of each month (during school terms) during the 9.30 service. Parents are welcome to accompany their children. We have a Bible story, prayers and a song before doing a craft activity, or (weather permitting) playing a game outside. The children’s favourite activity in the past year was making and flying kites at Pentecost. They enjoyed creating a Gruffalo scene for the flower festival in August, and made nativity scenes for the crib festival in December.

We would always be grateful for additional help with Sunday school, either occasionally or on a regular basis. Alternatively you may have a particular skill or knowledge you would like to pass on to the children of the church; perhaps a song you learnt at church when you were a child. If this is the case we would love to have you join us for just one session if you do not want to help more often. Please do get in touch if you can help in any way.

The children's area is located on the left hand side of the church, near to the vestry door. There are colourings, pencils, books and a box of toys here to keep your children occupied during any service should you want to use them.

A changing mat for babies is also available in the children’s area. There is a toilet available for older children in the Church grounds; please ask if you require assistance.
