The Harvest Festival Services collections this year will be donated to "The Bishop of St Albans Harvest Appeal", which this year will be supporting a school in Uganda for children with disabilities.

Note from Roger Cox regarding a Coach trip to Revd Ann’s Licensing on 17th November.
St Dunstan’s church is about 100 miles away and driving time by car via the M25 and the Dartford Crossing is at best about 2 hours. We were wondering if there was sufficient interest in hiring a coach. This would need to leave Hitchin about 15.30 from Woodside car park as the coach company reckon on the journey taking 2½ hours but we would be in part of the ‘rush hour’. We would plan to leave Cranbrook before 21.30 and our journey should be quicker on the way back but we would probably not be back in Hitchin until just before midnight.
The coach fare would be cheapest if we could totally fill a 53 seater, but if we could only fill a 35 seater, the cost would be around £15 per person.
Roger Cox needs to contact the coach company asap so if you are interested in attending and have the use of the coach, please either email Roger or call 01462 432445, no later than Sunday 4th October. Your decision would not be binding but we do need to see whether there is enough support to book a coach.
Details of collections which are taking place in Hitchin of items for the refugees in Calais.
One collection is at Farley's on Hermitage Road between 10am-1pm on Sunday 4th October. Items requested are shoes/trainers, wellies, socks, hoodies, waterproof jackets, trousers, jeans, shirts, t-shirts, underwear, hats, gloves, scarves, sleeping bags, tents, blankets, canvas sheets, toiletry bags (with toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, tissues), wide tooth comb, tinned food, rice, cooking oil, onions, garlic, ginger, tomato sauce, spices, sugar, flour.
The Hub Church are focusing on collecting food and have asked that people put carrier bags together with the following items:
lentils/ beans, tinned tomatoes, tinned veggies, a treat (biscuits/ chocolate), cooking oil, salt, pepper/ spices.
Once a bag has been created people are asked to tie it up. These can then be given directly to people without the need for anymore organising. The Hub Church will be taking them down to Dover on Sunday 20th September where they will be added to a lorry which is taking the food to Calais.
St Mark's Church in Hitchin is the collection point and bags can be brought to St Mark's on either this Sunday (13th September) between 2pm-4pm or next Saturday (19th September) between 10am-12noon.

There will be a retiring collection at all services in St Ippolyts tomorrow (6th Sept.) in aid of the Red Cross Europe Refugee Crisis appeal, so please come to church with some extra money in your wallet to donate to this cause. Revd Ann has decided tomorrow is the right day for this as she will be baptising three boys in St Ippolyts and marking their foreheads with a cross.
