Roger Cox retires as our Churchwarden!!

After 9 years as Churchwarden Roger has decided to let others take over the important role as Churchwarden in our Church. At the Annual Parochial Church Meeting today (26th April 2015) Revd Ann paid tribute to the work that Roger has carried out for St Ippolyts Church not only as Churchwarden but all the additional duties he has taken under his wing. Roger has been a common sight in his boiler suit climbing up a ladder to replace light bulbs, clean gutters and carry out regular inspections of the church fabric. Roger has always been on hand to supply warming mead after Christmas Carol services, breakfast after Ascension Day services, Bar-B-Que s at various times throughout the year, a careful hand to ensure our clock is working properly etc, etc, the list of jobs is endless.

Of course Roger is not leaving us, he is carrying on into his 26th year on the PCC, Yes 26 years! Will he ever retire?

Michael Hooper who carries on as Churchwareden together with Jane Veasey posed the question that whilst Roger had been magnificent in all the roles he had carried out, had he kept the congregation and Vicar under control, a very important role of any Churchwarden?

Roger was presented with a Arthur Sibun painting of our church as a gift from the congregation showing the appreciation all had for his sterling work.

Yes a big thank you to Roger!!
